"What's
in a name?
That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as
sweet."
-William Shakespeare, Romeo and
Juliet, Act II[i]
Our old-fashioned roses would beg
to differ. You see, old-fashioned
roses haven't changed much since
the Middle Ages. At the time, a
rose really was a rose--there weren't
as many types as there are today.
Since then, thousands of beautiful
new roses have been developed. Although
it's true that these newer roses
might not smell as sweet as many
of our old-timers, they often produce
bigger and better flowers. Generation
gaps aside, you should know that
we at Poundridge Nurseries carry
more varieties of roses than you
can imagine, and we treat them all
with a kind of love that even Shakespeare
admire.
